You are never far from Michelangelo's presence in Rome. The baths of Emperor Diocletian (emperor, 284 - 305 AD), which had fallen to ruin, were repurposed by Michelangelo as a church, and you see the massive scale of the ancient structures layered into this beautiful basilica.
Two items of note:
The Termini train station - the main station of Rome - is directly across the street. The name "Termini" is not related to the travel term, "terminal", but the Italian word for baths, termini - a nod to the station's location across from the Baths of Diocletion.
The Piazza della Repubblica, with its beatiful fountain, is directly outside the church as well, and is a common scene for TV shows and movies filmed in Rome.
Are you interested in seeing this?
Yes!
If there is time.
It doesn't really call to me.
