On the Aventine hill in Rome - the same hill where Remus, brother of Romulus initially made his home - sits the simple, but magnificent church of Santa Sabina. It is here that something incredible happened. St. Dominic, founder of the Dominican order, was in Santa Sabina praying, when then devil, offended by the piety of the man, threw a large rock at the priest. The throw missed, but the rock remains, the holes made by the devil's talons still visible in the dark stone. This legend is just one reason to visit Santa Sabina and see the stone for yourself.
Another reason is the beautiful park on the grounds of the church. Take the time to relax and enjoy the view from the parapet.
